ECS Labourer Card Jobs

Electrotechnical/Electrical-Labourer

The ECS Electrical Labourer Card is intended for individuals working in the electrical industry in a supportive, non-technical capacity. Labourers assist qualified electricians and other skilled personnel with tasks such as cable installation and general labouring duties, always under supervision. However, they are not permitted to carry out any technical or craft-specific work performed by electricians.

Labourers have a clearly defined role within the JIB grading structure, recognising their position and responsibilities on site.

In some cases, this card — or the Experienced Worker Card — may be issued where applicants do not yet meet the qualifications required for other ECS cards, such as the Installation Electrician card. Once the appropriate qualifications have been achieved, holders of the Labourer card can progress and apply for an ECS Gold Card.

How to Get an ECS Labourer Card

If you’re looking to start a career in the electrical industry or work on-site in a supportive role, the ECS Labourer Card is your essential first step. This card proves that you have the necessary health and safety awareness to work safely alongside electricians and other tradespeople.

In this guide, we’ll explain exactly what you need to do to apply for your ECS Labourer Card – including how you can meet the health and safety training requirement with our SPA H&S Core Day course, delivered online for just £174.00 Inc VAT.

What Is an ECS Labourer Card?

The ECS (Electrotechnical Certification Scheme) Labourer Card is designed for individuals who support qualified electricians on-site. As a labourer, your role includes helping with cable installations and general labouring duties under supervision — but you won’t carry out any electrical work yourself.

This card is part of the JIB grading structure and provides proof of your eligibility to work on construction and electrical sites across the UK.
