The Course

This comprehensive training program is designed for operatives, supervisors, and newcomers to the power industry looking to gain access to sites. The SHEA Power course focuses on health, safety, and environmental best practices specific to the power sector, aiming to elevate industry standards and promote safer working environments.

Course

Overview

This training programme is designed for contractors, employees, and utility workers who require a solid foundation in workplace health, safety, and environmental awareness.

The SHEA Power course covers key topics such as hazard identification, risk control, safe working practices, and industry-specific protocols relevant to the electrical and power distribution sector.

The SHEA Power Safety Passport is a valuable certification for professionals working in safety-critical environments. Affiliated with the CSCS scheme, the card provides recognised proof of health and safety training and grants operational site access across a range of power, construction, and utility industry sites in the UK.

The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) is a nationally recognised certification and registration scheme dedicated to maintaining high standards of safety, competence, and compliance within the energy and utilities sectors. Established and managed by Energy & Utility Skills, EUSR provides a reliable framework for accrediting workers’ qualifications and skills, ensuring they meet the demands of these safety-critical industries.

EUSR certifications, including the widely recognised SHEA (Safety, Health, and Environmental Awareness) schemes, are developed in collaboration with industry stakeholders to address specific sector requirements. These schemes aim to equip workers with essential knowledge of health, safety, and environmental best practices, enabling them to work safely and effectively in challenging environments such as power, water, gas, and renewable energy.

EUSR registrations are issued to individuals upon successful completion of approved training programs delivered by accredited training providers. Each registration is maintained on an accessible online database, providing employers and contractors with an easy way to verify workers’ credentials. Registration cards, such as those for the SHEA Power course, also enable workers to gain access to Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)-controlled sites without the need for a separate CSCS card.

EUSR plays a pivotal role in supporting the energy and utilities industries by ensuring a consistent, standardized approach to worker training and certification. By fostering a culture of competence and compliance, EUSR helps reduce workplace risks, improve safety standards, and enhance workforce professionalism across the UK. Its commitment to excellence has made EUSR a trusted partner for employers, contractors, and workers alike.

Completing the EUSR SHEA Power Course provides a wide range of benefits for individuals working or seeking employment in the power industry and related sectors. This nationally recognized certification ensures workers meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental awareness, increasing their employability and access to opportunities in safety-critical industries.

The SHEA Power certification is highly valued by employers in sectors such as power generation, electricity transmission and distribution, renewable energy, and utilities. Companies involved in construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical infrastructure, including National Grid, DNOs (Distribution Network Operators), and utility contractors, consider this qualification a key requirement for working on their sites.

The card offers additional advantages, such as meeting the criteria for access to Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)-controlled sites, eliminating the need for a separate CSCS card. This makes it particularly beneficial for those working on infrastructure projects, renewable energy installations, and maintenance of electrical networks.

For individuals, the EUSR SHEA Power certification demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance, making them more competitive in the job market. Employers recognize the certification as proof of the candidate’s understanding of sector-specific hazards, legal responsibilities, and best practices. This can open doors to roles in operational, supervisory, or managerial positions in the power sector and associated industries.

In summary, the EUSR SHEA Power card is a valuable asset for anyone working in or aspiring to enter the power industry. It not only improves safety and compliance but also enhances employability in a highly regulated sector, ensuring workers are equipped with the essential knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely.
