Both are delivered remotely, meaning you can access top-quality training from anywhere in Leeds, Bradford, or surrounding towns like Wakefield, Halifax, and Huddersfield.

ECS Labourer Card – Am I Eligible?

There are two main routes to getting your ECS Labourer Card, depending on your current qualifications.

Route 1: You Already Have a JIB-Approved Electrical Theory Qualification

If you’ve previously completed a recognised electrical theory qualification, such as:

  • City & Guilds 2365, 2330, or 2360

  • EAL equivalents

You’ll just need to pass the ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment to apply.

Route 2: You Don’t Have a JIB-Approved Electrical Qualification

If you’re starting from scratch or working in a support role without formal training, don’t worry – here’s what you’ll need:

1. Complete an Approved Health & Safety Course

You must complete one of the ECS-approved courses listed below:

  • SPA Core H&S Course – ✅ Available weekly online with MJ Training Solutions

  • ECS Electrical Safety Unit

  • CITB Health & Safety Awareness

  • CCNSG Safety Passport

  • Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

  • COSAC Safe2Site (Level 1)

✅ The SPA Core Day course is one of the most accessible and recognised routes – and it’s available to Leeds and Bradford learners online with MJ Training Solutions for just £174.00 Inc VAT.

If taken within the last 3 years, the SPA course may exempt you from the separate ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment.

2. Pass the ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment

This is required unless you’ve completed one of the exempting H&S courses recently (SPA, CITB, or CCNSG).

3. Provide Evidence of Working in the Electrotechnical Industry

This can include:

  • A letter or reference from your employer

  • An employment contract, offer letter, or payslip

  • Proof of enrolment on a recognised course (e.g. the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations)

  • A valid qualification such as BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regs)

✅ MJ Training Solutions offers the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations course online with flexible exam options (either at home or in a centre) – ideal for candidates in Leeds, Bradford, and surrounding areas.
